Children are precious and we strive to nurture them in their spiritual growth and to equip families for this process.
Children ages infant through four experience God’s love through story and song, art and play, and strong, loving adults who model God’s care for them.
A nursery is provided during Sunday School and morning worship. See Nursery Policies and Procedures.
Children’s Church / Outreach
For children up to age nine during morning worship. In addition to a Bible lesson, they sing during morning worship and even lead the service during Children’s Sunday, create greeting cards to send to shut-ins and provide to the Parish Nurse to use at hospitals. They also visit the local nursing home occasionally.
Children ages five through seven experience much of the regular children’s ministry while beginning to take leadership in some of these ministries. They serve as acolytes and speakers during worship service about the church’s missions. See Children’s Church Policies and Procedures.
Kids for Christ
Kids for Christ is a program for elementary children. They meet on Sunday evening – please check the Church calendar on this website for dates/times.
The congregation is frequently blessed with music from the children during worship. They practice during Children’s church or Sunday School.

Children’s Health Fair
Church Hill FUMC’s Parish Nurse has coordinated a Children’s Health Fair since 2005. In partnership with Wellmont’s Holston Valley Medical Center, our goal has been to reach all children in eastern Hawkins County, infant through middle age, with all aspects of health education – physical, mental, social, developmental and spiritual. AND at no charge to the public. Annually, healthcare professionals and agencies donate their services, including vision, dental, audio and scoliosis screenings, and church members assist. Children with existing problems as well as potential problems are referred to appropriate health care assistance. With God’s blessings, this ministry has been very successful for nine consecutive years, with more and more children being served. Since 2010, we have held the Fair during the Community Celebration (a community-wide fun event for all ages) in order to be accessible to more children.
Trunk or Treat
The congregation provides treats from their vehicle trunks for a safe Halloween for children in the church and community. Parents alike enjoy cotton candy, popcorn and a fun evening.
Held the Sunday following Easter, children participate in an egg hunt, following the Worship Choir’s Easter cantata and fellowship luncheon.
